October is Respect Life Month.
Please take a few moments to read
about issues facing our Church and society today.
Dear Parishioners of St. Christopher’s Church,
For the past several months, I have stood before you at the end of each weekend Mass and asked you to pray with me a Prayer of Healing for the Victims of Abuse for those who have suffered the pain of abuse. On Friday, February 22, 2019, I began a journey of shock and disbelief after learning of the accusation of sexual abuse of a minor placed against me.
This is alleged to have occurred forty-years ago at St. Andrew’s Church in the City of Rochester. I vehemently deny this accusation of sexual abuse. I do not know this person who wrongly accused me. I have never engaged, with anyone, in the conduct alleged. This alleged action never took place.
In compliance with the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People, the Diocese acted swiftly. That Friday, I was immediately put on administrative leave. An investigation is underway.
I know in the days ahead, the process before me will be a difficult one. I ask that you please continue to keep me and others who find themselves in a similar situation in your prayers. Please pray that the grace and love of God will bring healing to all of us.
I am deeply touched by your love, prayers and the many supportive e-mails, texts, and cards you have sent me over the past week. As the days unfold, I feel your strength and loving presence. I am blessed to have you in my life.
