If you would like your child to make 1st Eucharist this year....
In order for your children to participate in the preparation for First Communion they are expected to participate in religious education through Catholic school or in a parish religious education program in addition to the sacrament preparation program.
St. Christopher's is a stewardship parish and our families are committed to sharing their gifts of time, talent and treasure and also making a regular commitment to participation in Sunday Mass.
The readiness of your child to receive the sacrament is determined in a three-fold way; on the part of the individual asking for the sacrament, on the part of the family and on the part of the parish. Readiness of the individual is determined based on their desire and their regular participation in age appropriate faith formation. Readiness of the family is based on their commitment to weekly mass attendance and whatever necessary support for the ongoing faith formation of the individual. The parish family must be ready to support the newest members of the community through prayer and example.
This sacrament is usually made when the child is in the second grade. The program St. Christopher's Faith Formation Office uses involves completion of a work book at home with the child AND parents. There will also be group activities and parent meetings.
Father will be meeting with all the Fathers of the children who will be making their First Communion on October 22nd, 2011.
The meeting to register your child for this sacrament will take place January 8th , 2012 at 1:00 PM. at the Church Hall.
All meetings are mandatory!
